The Pre-Trip Overhaul, Fayette, ME. Late August 2012

Rusty about to get a makeover

Jza testing out the back seat… just before we rip out the middle captains chairs

Captains chairs gone to make way for the desk/bed extension

Captains chairs sitting in my office… probably until we use them as arm chairs next Summer

The wood floor

Building the desk/bed and mounting it to the floor

Mary showing how the desk folds down to for the bed extension

There you have it!

Mary adds a coat of wood stain to match the existing wooden trim inside the van

The wood floor and desk/bed inside the van

The back seat folded down and the desk folded down to double the size of the bed

We had a piece of foam cut the right size to make it level with the back seat

Mary removing the TV and VCR that no longer work to make way for some additional storage space

Mary the electrician

The old TV & VCR

Removable mini kitchen we made to sit behind the back seat. This allows us to stop and make a cup of coffee or a snack on the road then when we’re camping we take it out and sit it on the bench at the campsite.

The ‘kitchen’ sitting in the back of the van

Jza constructed this centre console complete with cup holders (Astros are notorious for having crappy cup holders). It houses the auxiliary battery and power inverter which supplies us with 110v power at all times. The battery charges from the main battery while we’re driving.

Awesome Yo.!!..and its true about the cup holders, a cupholder that can only hold a 32oz drink is totally unacceptable.!
they just banned soda in cups bigger than 16oz in NYC
How’s Mary’s hip doin’ from sleepin’ on the bed? 🙂
