Denver, CO. 6-10 Oct 2012
We drove from Santa Fe, NM to Denver, CO on Saturday. During the length of our trip we went from sunny and warm temperatures of New Mexico to snow and sleet in Denver. We arrived to Jeremy’s good friend’s house, Erin around 5. We hung around Erin’s house for a bit, catching up and waiting for the weather to pass. Later, Erin took us to a great burger place in his neighborhood called Park Burger for dinner that night. After our long day of driving and the cold weather we decided to head home after dinner to get a good night sleep for the next day.
We woke up Sunday morning with plans to go hiking, unfortunately it was still a little too cold so we went with a great back up plan, watching football! We headed over to Erin’s buddy’s place who was hosting a Football Sunday party for the Bronco’s game. They had a great set up in their basement complete with a massive tv, stadium seating and enough food to feed a football team. During half time we went outside to throw the football around, am activity I should have opted out of considering I hit Erin’s car with the football (Sorry Erin)! We finished up watching the game and after we completely indulged in beer and food we headed home for a quiet night before our full day of hiking on Monday.
We woke up early Monday morning and headed straight out for our hike. Erin’s friend Alex and his dog Max joined us for the day. We hiked a great trail at Cheesmen Canyon which ran along the Platte river. We hiked about 2 miles into the canyon taking our time climbing the rocks, fishing and taking pictures. We found a great boulder to take a break on and have some lunch while Jeremy and Erin took a dip in the river. After we were rested and cooled off we headed back. After a few stops on our way out for photo ops and more swimming we made it to the car totally exhausted. We headed back to Erin’s house for a well deserved BBQ. Once we got back to Erin’s we made dinner and relaxed for the rest of the night eating steak, drinking wine, talking about our great day of hiking and watching Art of Flight.
Tuesday we packed up, went for a quick lunch with Erin at Pajama Bakery and headed out of town.
