Nashville, TN. 20 Sep 2012
After leaving Memphis Thursday afternoon we heded to Nashville. We arrived in Nashville around dinner time and went to Sam’s Sports Bar, voted the best sports bar in Nashville, to watch the Giants game. After dinner we hit to town in search of some live music. We came across two bars right next door to each other, The Loser’s Bar and the Winner’s Bar…we went to the Winner’s Bar. There was a small band of two guys playing country music at the bar. Every time someone new would walk into the bar they would take a break from playing music to introduce themselves, ask them their name then proceed to introduce the newcomers to everyone else in the bar. They only played songs people requested, Jeremy went for a Weathervane karaoke classic “I love this bar” and I requested one of my favorite songs, “Good Hearted Woman.”
Before leaving Nashville we stopped into their Farmer’s Market which is pretty well known. Its sprawling with everything from fresh fruits and vegetables from local farmers to an entire food court with any type of food you could think of. We met a guy who makes his own hot sauces and immediately Jeremy made a new friend. We spent some time sampling some of his sauces and chatting. His name is Dave Price, his website is nashvillejerk.com, he’s pretty talented and makes great hot sauces!
After two great nights in Tennessee filled with live music we ended our stay the next day by dining at the famous Arnold’s Country Kitchen which has been featured on one of our favorite shows Diners, Drive Ins and Dives (and thanks to the DDD iphone app we have been able to eat at most of the places featured on the show).
We left Nashville Friday afternoon en route to Birmingham, Alabama…WAR EAGLE!!!
