Atlantic City & Jersey Shore, NJ. 7 Sep 2012
We left NYC just after lunch Friday and drove south toward Jersey Shore. We stopped in at Long Branch Beach for a quick swim. The water was sooooo much warmer than Maine. We then drove to a camp ground just out of Atlantic City that we had located on Google Maps but it closed its gates at pm each day and it was already after 7. So we called up another campground about 20 minutes south and reserved a spot there. [name of campground] was fairly elaborate, with a swimming pool, games room, store, small hall and laundry. It looked as if most of the occupants had been there the entire summer, some with 2 story cabins with basic landscaping and almost all of them had golf carts parked out front. We had a nice big spot out the back, tucked away from everyone.
Saturday morning we had breakfast then drove into Sea Isle City where we walked along the boardwalk for a while and then went for lunch. We then drove right along the coast, through Ocean City and into Atlantic City. The weather was really crazy… extremely hot and humid and wild winds which mad the ocean really rough. We walked around AC for a bit, mainly checking out Trump Plaza and the beach. Being Saturday Trump was $199 per night but tomorrow it would be $44… marginally more than the $30 camp site 😉 That night we cooked up a stir fry in our new wok which was pretty good for a camp meal.
Sunday morning we packed up camp and headed back to AC to check into the Trump Plaza, watch football and live it up for a night. We had some food and beers at the Beach Bar right in from of the hotel and that night continued eating and watching football at Hooters just down the boardwalk.
